Adrian Lewis has set out plans for a darting return of sorts in 2025 after signing a deal with MODUS as his new management.
Lewis won't attend Q-School meaning that when his Tour Card expires at the turn of the year, he has now plans to attempt to win it back. But he will instead head to Portsmouth as part of his new management deal and play in the MODUS Super Series.
A tool used by many outside the 128 to develop their game and has gleamed many new and returning Tour Card holders, Lewis will test the waters for a darting return through that route.
The two-time back-to-back World Champion captured the biggest darting prize back in both 2011 and 2012. He is a former four-time World Cup champion and UK Open and European Championship winner.
The 39-year-old decided to take a break from the sport last year. During April last year, he confirmed the news through social media. "Dear all, in particular my fans, I feel that your loyalty deserves an explanation for my absence from tournaments. After 20+ years I feel I need a break from the professional circuit for now.Massive thanks for the support from my fans & sponsors," he wrote.
"Also I'd like to thank PDC and PDPA for the opportunity and last but not least my family."
He has been in and around the sport though since. He still remains an exhibition player and also appeared at the Night of Champions for the PDC at the turn of the year. He confirmed then that a return isn't on the cards in 2024. "A possibility. I haven’t got any plans at the minute. We will see. I cannot promise something," he said.
He has kept to that with every ProTour seeing Lewis's name as an absentee. He has also dropped out of the top 64 as a result and will lose his Tour Card at the end of the season. But has changed management and while he isn't rushing to Q-School, he will be back playing in 2025.
“I’m delighted to be returning to the sport that I love, and to be backed by MODUS Sports Management going forward,” said Lewis as per MODUS Darts.
“I feel refreshed and re-energised, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds for me.
“I will not be rushing back to Q-School just yet, but I am not ruling it out in the future. Firstly I shall be looking to play the MODUS Super Series in 2025 as my pathway back to the Professional circuit.”
