The Lakeside champion battled through a tough Q-School field to earn his Tour Card. In his four
Pro Tour events thus far, Durrant has shown himself to be a Sunday specialist. A 6-5 loss at the first hurdle to Alan Tabern in Players Championship 1 started his
PDC career with a defeat. But he bounced back to reach the Players Championship 2 final.
Another last 128 defeat ended Players Championship 3 early. But a spectacular run at Players Championship 4 saw him beat the likes of Peter Wright en route to the final. There he met Dimitri van den Bergh, and an 8-3 win
sealed a maiden PDC title.
It means that the Teesside ace has already earned £16,000 in PDC competitions. That's more than his earnings for all three BDO Finder Darts Masters victories combined.
His achievement makes for impressive reading compared to fellow breakthrough stars. Stephen Bunting was the last reigning BDO world champion to switch codes. He won £2,250 from his first four Players Championship events, though the Bullet did also win a UK Open Qualifier in that time.
Rob Cross picked up an impressive £12,000 in 2017, ending the season as the world champion. A year later, Corey Cadby would pick up £6,500.
Durrant's winnings has blown the rest out of the water. Now it remains to be seen just how far the new world number 74 can go.
