Daryl Gurney has defeated
Peter Wright for the second week in a row. The Northern Irishman takes the final semi-final spot this evening.
Like last
week, Gurney started on a rampage, taking the first 5 legs against the world number 2. In what is the pairs 7th televised meeting this year, that would ultimately seem pivotal. Then as if it was a script the pair must follow, Wright took the second mini-session 4-1. 6-4 Gurney at the second break. A carbon copy of last weeks match-up.
Wright would break the pattern to move just 1 behind at 6-5. However that was as close as the Scotsman got in front of his home crowd.
Gurney raced to a 9-5 lead. Impressive on his finishing under pressure from a booing crowd. He then missed darts to win the match in leg 15 and 16, before finally winning 10-7.
Gurney now faces Michael van Gerwen in tonight's second semi-final.
