Hogan faced off against Wes Newton in what was a hotly anticipated clash between the pair.
Newton was making his debut on the Lakeside stage but he didn’t play well and averaged 78 ten less than the experienced Hogan who came out the victor in this preliminary round clash.
Prins faced one of the surprise packages on the BDO Tour in 2018 in the form of Roz Bulmer.
Prins came through in a straight sets victory against Bulmer though including a 156 checkout but she will next face Mikuru Suzuki who downed Lisa Ashton earlier.
