Thanks to a run to the World Matchplay final, Suljovic confirmed his spot in the code-crossover showdown. He will certainly be joined by world number one Michael van Gerwen and world champion Rob Cross. Peter Wright, Gary Anderson and Raymond van Barneveld will all be in Wolverhampton. So too will Corey Cadby, Dimitri van den Bergh, Josh Payne, Michael Smith and Jonny Clayton. The prospect of playing with both PDC and BDO stars is one that excites Suljovic, no matter how far he goes.
"I'm so pleased to be playing in the Grand Slam again," the Gentle said.
"It's always great to take part in these tournaments, playing against both PDC players and our BDO friends."
The 2017 quarter-finalist topped his group last time out. Given his recent Matchplay exploits, as well as victory in the World Series, Suljovic feels that he is well placed to take the next step.
"I think my form is much better at the moment than last year, so I think I can go a bit further if I have a little luck along the way," he said.
The world number six reflected on his success in Blackpool. Though Suljovic is yet to claim a major title, he believes that one is in the pipeline.
"It was a massive boost to do so well at the World Matchplay," he said.
"I kind-of wished there was another tournament straight away so I could keep going.
"I have massive respect for my hero Gary for winning, but it's given me so much confidence going forward. Now I'm starting to believe I can win one of these big tournaments."
Suljovic is a massively popular figure in darts. As well as having a cult support in his adopted nation of Austria, he has garnered plenty of well-wishers around the world. The Gentle took a moment to show his appreciation for the various messages he has received.
"The reaction has been amazing, both in Austria and in the UK. There have been so many people stopping me for a chat and congratulating me.
"Every single comment has been positive and I'd like to thank everyone who commented on social media - I try to read as many messages as possible."
