Last night saw Michael van Gerwen be smashed by William O’Connor in one of the biggest shocks in
European Tour history. MVG was uncharacteristically poor and hit an average of less than 90 in a 6-1 defeat. This blew the tournament wide open with a major chance for a new player to potentially claim the title today. O’Connor is one of them and he faces off against Ricky Evans first in a battle of two unseeded players. Two big names are on second who are still to win their first European Tour title in Joe Cullen and Daryl Gurney who will know they won’t have to go through MVG today. Edhouse and Smith face off third in another unseeded battle between two players who dumped out seeds themselves. Kyle Anderson has been impressive recently and will want to keep that up as he faces the only remaining home nation qualifier in Jeffrey de Graaf. One of the ties of the round sees Peter Wright, the highest seed left and the favourite for the title see Dave Chisnall who has shown brilliant form in patches recently. Simon Whitlock smashed Cristo Reyes yesterday and will hope to continue that form as he faces Darren Johnson. Adrian Lewis will also be one of the main favourites for the title. He has to get through the impressive Josh Payne in what will be another top clash. Finally Ian White will face Mervyn King with both players hoping to add to their brilliant form shown this year on the Pro Tour and bring it to the European Tour stage. for more information on this tournament William O'Connor v Ricky Evans Joe Cullen v Daryl Gurney Ritchie Edhouse v Ross Smith Kyle Anderson v Jeffrey de Graaf Peter Wright v Dave Chisnall Simon Whitlock v Darren Johnson Adrian Lewis v Josh Payne Ian White v Mervyn King
