PDC Players Championship Finals preview – Saturday afternoon session

There's been no shortage of drama at the PDC Players Championship Finals.

The world champion and the Grand Slam champion have both been dumped out. We've had comebacks, last-leg showdowns and plenty of excellent darts. But the race for the latest PDC major is far from over. Saturday afternoon's action will see the second round of the Players Championship Finals played in its entirety.

Banana skins

Seven of the 16 games will take place in the main stage - and there's a lot of talent on show. First up is Daryl Gurney, who was mediocre in the first round and may be the latest casualty if Ryan Searle can continue his Friday form. James Wade, in the same quarter as Gurney, will fear no-one. But he'll need to be wary of Nathan Aspinall, who was excellent in a 6-1 thrashing of Martin Schindler. Dave Chisnall plays Chris Dobey, before Rob Cross-toppling Cristo Reyes sets out to overcome Steve Lennon. Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen both posted ton-plus averages in round one; Simon Whitlock and Keegan Brown are their respective second round opponents. Peter Wright is last up on the main stage in Minehead. He meets Max Hopp, who he beat with ease at the Grand Slam. But the Maximiser showed in his comeback against Steve West that he has the nerve to do well on stage.

All White Now

Stephen Bunting headlines the second stage action at Butlin's. He plays Madars Razma, before James Wilson does battle with Gabriel Clemens. There's a tasty clash as Jeffrey de Zwaan takes on Ricky Evans, and then Stephen Burton continues his Minehead adventure against Darren Webster.
Ian White earned his tag as top seed on day one, putting in the second-best average in Players Championship Finals history. If he continues this form, even the top players will be able to stop the Diamond, let alone Brendan Dolan. Danny Noppert continues his debut against former finalist Mervyn King. Jonny Clayton is a much more recent finalist. The 2017 runner-up may have met his match in the form of Michael Smith, the only whitewash winner on day one.
Steve Beaton and Joe Cullen both came out on top in thrilling 11-leg first round matches. They meet in Minehead, in what should be another tight tie. Rounding off the action on Stage Two is another sterling match-up. Krzysztof Ratajski was outstanding as he dumped out Gerwyn Price - now Adrian Lewis stands in his way.
Coverage begins at 12:45pm and will be live on ITV4.
