Petersen was fighting for tour survival and when his back was against the wall, he produced some amazing darts to defeat the Stoke-on-Trent ace. White claimed the first set 3-1 with ‘Diamond’ averaging 109 to Devon’s 92 from the outset. He hit 3/4 on his doubles only allowing the African Warrior one so far in a game that Petersen has to win to keep his tour card. He continued to set out his stall going two-up in double quick time still averaging around the 109 mark showing that he was keeping it going. This was with a 116 checkout for the Stoke-on-Trent ace who set his stall out for a big win against the South African. In the next set it went to a deciding leg but Devon went 6 darts into a perfect leg in order to assure himself of a first set. White pressured with a 145 to leave double 20; as a result this put the pressure on Petersen to finish the job which he did after ‘Diamond’ missed darts to break. ‘Diamond’ was punished for missed darts at doubles following that with Devon taking the set 3-1 to send it into a final deciding set. It went to a tie-break and to start off Devon missed multiple darts to break and go one away. Despite that he kept going; he then smashed in a 125 checkout to make it 3-3.
