Phil Taylor will take to the stage for the final time in Germany this weekend.
The Power will be making his final bow outside of the UK as he continues his retirement season, and is still in with an outside chance of making the finals as the top seed. Taylor will have to overcome Robert Marijanovic in the first round and both Gary Anderson and van Gerwen lose for there to remain a chance heading into Saturdays quarter finals.
The 16 time World Champion says he isn't focusing on that possibility and instead is hoping to just enjoy the occasion, "I'm looking forward to it and it's always good in Germany". "There are young players coming through now and we'll all have to watch out, but I'll be going out to enjoy myself this weekend, and if I win then it would be great."
Taylor, like van Gerwen also acknowledged the success of the
World series in growing the sport of darts on an international scale saying the following "We want to spread darts worldwide and that's what the World Series has done, and Germany is another place where darts is booming."
In line with the
PDC expansion plans for a global sport they also announced yesterday
4 players had been handed wildcard spots/invitations to the World Championships in December. However, there is plenty more televised darts to be played before then.
The Action from Germany is Live on ITV4 for UK viewers from 7pm on Friday evening
