World Number 1
Michael van Gerwen has exploded into life since the birth of his
daughter in August.
The Dutchman has been on a rampage on the European tour and hopes to carry that form into this weekend's
World Series Event, something he noted when speaking to
pdc.tv. "I won the European Tour last weekend so I know I'm playing well, and I can't wait for this weekend."
van Gerwen also acknowledged the German fans expected to be in attendance in Hamburg saying "The fans are always fantastic in Germany and this is an event I'm looking forward to"
Martin Schindler will be MvG's opponent in the first round, a player who has appeared at the world cup and a couple of Euro Tours this season. The World series has given us another chance to see the German youngster in action, and Michael had this to say about the event.
"The World Series is growing all the time and it's great to have a big event in Germany like this."
A third world series title this season would be enough to secure the number 1 seed spot heading to the Glasgow finals in a couple of weeks time. van Gerwen currently trails world number 2 Anderson by 4 points but missed out on the Australasian triple header earlier this year.
