James Wade is into the Semi-final of the
World Series of darts finals after defeating
Dimitri van den Bergh 10-6.
Wade, the 7-time major winner, used all his experience in this one. Trailing 3-0 to Dimitri at the beginning of the game, van den Bergh missed 6 darts to go 4-0 up. Wade stepped in to get his first leg on the board. This seemed to rattle the young Belgian, who then went on to miss a staggering 28 darts at a double in the encounter.
Wade took the first leg after the break to level up at 3-3. The 7th leg also belonged to the machine. A 122 out shot on the bulls-eye after yet more missed doubles from Dimitri. The pair would hold there own throws for the next 3 legs, scores level at 5 a piece at the second interval.
After that the Dream makers hopes began to unravel, missed doubles in almost every leg allowed Wade to see himself home.
The former Matchplay and Grand Prix winner also picked up a further 2 ton-plus outshots. A solid Shanghai finish of 120 in leg 11 and a 148 in leg 15.
van den Bergh can hold his head high though. The dream maker was expecting to be competing on the development tour this afternoon, but came through 2 tough games to get this far. He'll now travel to Wigan for the World Youth championships last 64 tomorrow.
Wade will meet the winner of Gary Anderson or Gerwyn Price in this evenings semi-final.
