Gary Anderson is the second man into the
World Series Finals semi-final. The Scotsman defeated
Gerwyn Price in Glasgow to set up a clash with James Wade later today.
Much was made of this quarter-final battle before a dart was thrown. Scottish Print media quoting Gary Anderson as calling Gerwyn Price a clown. The contest in the end was played out in a good spirit, although the crowd were firmly backing there man.
The home supporters were silenced in the early legs. Gary took the opening leg with his first of 2 ton plus finishes. 104 finished on double 20. Things didn't quite go to plan after that leg though. The Welshman took the next 4 legs before the interval. At that point Anderson was just 1/7 on doubles.
After the interval a different Anderson appeared on stage. Gary helped himself to 4 of the next 5 legs, taking 3 in a combined 40 darts. Putting the crowd back Gary's side and firmly on Price's back.
Anderson lead for the first time since the opening leg in after taking leg 11, and would never be behind in the match again.
A huge 167 from Anderson in leg 13 helped him maintain the advantage over price, and despite making a mess of a chance to wrap it up 10-7, The flying Scotsman would eventually see the tie 10-8.
Anderson will now face Wade in the last 4 later this evening.
