Dublin is always a
firm favourite destination for Premier League Darts fans with the atmosphere
and the welcoming players get, and this years Dublin event is certainly turning
into a good one for 2021 world champion Gerwyn Price.
The 39 year old Welsh right hander took a 6-3
victory over Nathan Aspinall in the final to win night three of the tournament,
and Price was was in sterling and scintillating form all evening and he took
victories over world champion Luke Littler and world number one Luke Humphries
on his way to the final.
For those fans who like a flutter, they may
well have begun investigating the new types of gambling gaming like
Visa casino and the options they offer, as well as their
ease of use, and as the darts calendar continues there will be plenty of
opportunities available in the coming months if that is your kind of thing.
It marked his first night win since the 11th
event back in the 2023 tournament, where he ultimately went on to finish as
runner up in the season ending play offs, and this final certainly ebbed and
flowed as you would expect.
Having exchanged breaks with 33 year old
English thrower Aspinall, who also picked up his first wins of the year, Price
took legs three and four before again breaking in the seventh to take control
of the encounter at 4-3. Having held his next throw, he broke again to take the
dominant victory on the evening.
Having averaged 100.57 and took out 50% of his
checkouts, the only controversial, or at least unexpected element of the night,
came when he raced off the stage at the end and did not conduct the expected
post game interview with broadcaster Sky Sports.
Whatever the reasoning behind that was, it
will likely become clear in a day or two, but Price will certainly be happy
with the consistency that he has exhibited so far as speaking after his quarter
final victory he spoke about wanting to become a 'tough nut to crack' once
again as he felt that over the last few years his own standards and approach
had not been quite right and his performances had slipped, so he was determined
to kick on once again and get back to his best.
Advertorial: Whilst Price will certainly take his own positives from the evening
and his win, despite being defeated Aspinall still has his own reasons to cheer
as well, as with the world number 11 previously speaking candidly about his
issues with 'dartitis' - the condition where players develop a mental block
when it comes to throwing - his progress and performance would certain have
been morale boosting.
Price becomes the third winner of the 2025
season, following on from the victories secured by Humphries and Littler in the
opening two weeks.
