Although he earned more than £1.3 million in prize money during his career, Terry Jenkins still chose to say goodbye to professional darts and take a completely different path. The now 62-year-old Englishman, nicknamed “The Bull,” reached nine PDC major finals and is widely regarded as one of the best players never to win a major title. In 2018 though, he hung up his darts for good.
Jenkins, who amassed a total of £1,356,973 in prize money and was a mainstay in the PDC for years, stepped away from the sport due to growing monotony. The constant travel and many hours away from home began to take their toll. Speaking candidly on the Tungsten Talk podcast, he looked back on that period and explained what he does nowadays.

“I was tired of the travel”

"I was travelling around on my own all the time and it is no fun being in an airport sat there on your own for hours on end,” Jenkins said. “In the end, we were going to Barnsley and Wigan every weekend, and I just got bored of it, I think. I thought I need to pack it in and go back to doing my wheeling and dealing."

"I don't treat it as a job - it's more of a hobby”

Although antique dealing has long been part of Jenkins life, even during his darting pomp. Since stepping back from the oche in 2018 though, he's been able to enjoy trading with his son.
"We're wheeling and dealing all the time, me and my lad. It's good fun, really. I don't treat it as a job - it's more of a hobby,” Jenkins said. “It's not like an office job where you go in and it's a chore every day. What we do is a bit of fun. You never know what's going to happen from day to day. These days it's good, clean, modern furniture - that's what people want. You never know what you're going to find."
Jenkins readily admits it doesn’t always pay off. Sometimes there’s little or no profit on a purchase. But there have also been absolute jackpots. "I bought a lamp once for £25 and we put it into auction and it made something like £2,200," he said proudly. “There are a few items that we have done well on."

Jenkins hasn’t disappeared from the darts scene entirely. He still turns out occasionally on the ADC, and he even finds playful ways to combine his two worlds. Every so often, a special find ends up with a fellow darter.
"I got a tractor seat once for Paul Nicholson, with his name on it, Nicholson. I bought that for him,” Jenkins laughed. “I get the odd little bits now and again for people. Peter Manley, I bought a nice China Flamingo, which was quite a good one. I told him that as well. It cost me about a tenner in a car boot sale, but it was worth about £400. But I gave it to him and he didn't believe me. He googled it and then found out it was worth quite a lot of money. It was a nicer one, I think."
