Friday afternoon saw the return of the European Tour with the
German Darts Championship beginning at the Halle 39 in Hildesheim. On the opening evening session, some big names will take to the oche with some quality matches on the schedule.
It all begins with Danny Noppert who will be in a battle of his own to partner Michael van Gerwen at the World Cup of Darts. Currently ahead of a long line of Dutch stars including Jermaine Wattimena and
Jeffrey de Zwaan, he can look to cement his lead this weekend.
He will have to get past Josh Payne in his opener, who will be buoyed by his room mate for the weekend, Richard North getting through in the afternoon session.
Steve Brown will make his return to the European Tour for the first time since 2013 with one of his last tournaments being this very German Darts Championship, 'The Bomber' will take on Adam Hunt.
Then a long line of home hopes in the form of
Gabriel Clemens,
Nico Kurz and
Max Hopp will all take to the stage.
Clemens and Hopp who will face Steve West and Reece Robinson get through as the top two players from that country while Kurz came through qualification last night and will take on the very tricky, Jason Lowe.
Following that, it is probably the match of the session with in-form
Devon Petersen taking to the stage to face Jeffrey de Zwaan looking to play himself into form this weekend.
Chris Dobey and
Michael Smith will finish proceedings with the latter taking on Alan Tabern in a St Helens derby while for 'Hollywood', it is Scottish ace, Ryan Murray.
