King eases past Siepmann, Horvat misses nine-dart finish en route to victory over Huybrechts

The afternoon session is complete at the German Darts Championship with Mervyn King, Dragutin Horvat and Lukas Wenig through to the second round.

King who will be after confirming a World Grand Prix spot before the cut off this weekend started out in the best possible way easing past Steffen Siepmann in a 6-1 win.

En route, he hit a 93 average with two 180’s and 5/16 on his doubles compared to Siepmann who only averaged 78 with 1/10 on his doubles proving pivotal.

There will be two host nation qualifiers through to the next round though including Dragutin Horvat who missed double 12 for a nine-darter before closing out the match with a ten-darter in a 6-4 win with four 180’s and a 94.6 average.

Lukas Wenig is also through after surviving a late comeback from Cody Harris who came from 4-0 down to level up but he lost out in a 6-4 defeat. It is a first time win for the German who will go onto face Dave Chisnall tomorrow instead of a repeat of the World Series of Darts Finals tie from last weekend.
