Gian van Veen recently rewarded himself with an impressive new car after an extremely successful year. The 24-year-old recently shared images on Instagram of his brand-new Audi Q8, immediately catching the eye of fans and fellow darters alike. Former professional Vincent van der Voort also couldn’t hide his admiration when the topic came up on the podcast Darts Draait Door.

Van Veen enjoyed the best year of his career in 2025. The Dutchman captured the European Championship Darts title and also reached the 2026 PDC World Darts Championship final.
Those achievements earned him not only sporting recognition but also a significant financial reward. He invested part of his prize money in a new home, where he lives with his girlfriend..
The talented Dutchman continues to thrive in 2026. Van Veen made his debut in the Premier League Darts, one of the most prestigious tournaments on the calendar. Simply taking part in that competition generates substantial income, allowing the darter to further strengthen his financial position.
After the Premier League Darts, Van Veen decided to treat himself to a new car. The podcast devoted plenty of attention to it. Presenter Damian Vlottes asked with a wink whether Van Veen might have driven his new car to the Nordic Darts Masters in Copenhagen. That turned out not to be the case. On social media, the darter showed that he had flown to the Danish capital.
The remark did, however, provide a perfect opening to discuss his new purchase. When the conversation turned to the Audi Q8, Van der Voort responded enthusiastically. “Wow, what a car, huh, gosh,” said the former pro, visibly impressed.

His admiration quickly turned to surprise when the possible purchase price came up. Figures are circulating online that, according to some, approach 375,000 euros. “You see those prices online for that car... I hope he didn’t actually pay that much,” Van der Voort joked.
Presenter Vlottes named the figure straight away. “375,000 euros,” he stated. That comment again left Van der Voort in disbelief. “I read that too, yes,” he replied. “I’m curious, because that really is a price, isn’t it?”

Not jealous
Van der Voort stressed, however, that he isn’t jealous of his young colleague’s luxury purchase. Over the years he has driven several fine cars himself and currently uses a sponsor’s vehicle. “I’m not jealous, I’ve never really had that with those kinds of things,” he explained. “I’ve always had super nice cars and I’m now driving a nice one from the sponsor. But I don’t feel I need to drive a car like that too.”

According to Van der Voort, the true value of a car isn’t in the price tag. From experience, he knows the first impression often fades quickly. “Usually after a few months it’s just a car,” he concluded.
Whether Van Veen actually paid the quoted amount for his Audi remains unclear for now. What is certain is that the Dutch darter is currently enjoying the fruits of his sporting success. With major titles, lucrative appearances, and an impressive new car, he seems firmly on course for the very top of the darts world.
