Paul Lim proved Saturday at tournaments on the PDC Asian Tour that he can still play an excellent game of darts. In one of his matches, Lim, now 70 years old, posted an average of no less than 107.36.
Lim faced Bin Guo in the second round of the 22nd tournament of the PDC Asian Tour. 'The Singapore Slinger' started the match with an 11-darter and then threw a 15-darter to make it 2-0.
This was followed by a 14-darter in the third leg, before Lim ended the match with a 16-darter. In total, match lasted only 10 minutes. From Guo, Lim hardly faced any opposition, as his Chinese opponent threw an average of just 48.17. Lim's average was thus more than twice that of his opponent.
In the end, Lim lost 4-2 to Odkhuu Khundaganai at the last 32 of the tournament. At PDC Asian Tour 19 and PDC Asian Tour 21, Lim made it to the quarterfinals.
A World Cup spot seems out of reach for now for Lim, who must finish in the top four of the PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit to do so. The Singaporean competed at Lakeside twelve times in the past, where he made history in 1990 with the first ever nine-darter at a World Championship and the only perfect leg ever at Lakeside. In addition, Lim also competed 14 times at the PDC's World Darts Championship.
