Luke Humphries fell just short in his quest for back to back nightly wins to open the 2025 Premier League Darts. The world number lost out to Luke Littler 6-5 in the Night Two final in Glasgow on Thursday.

Nevertheless, thanks to comeback wins over Chris Dobey in the quarter-finals and Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals, Humphries adds 3 more points to his overall total and still sits top of the Premier League Darts table after two weeks action.

Curiously, between his semifinal win over Price and the start of his final with Littler, Humphries managed to injure his finger. Despite having to go back to the table in order to dab the blood off his finger after every visit, Humphries more than held his own in the final, with the more pressing issue being constant whistling from the crowd as both players attempted to throw their darts. Ultimately though, it was Littler who prevailed in a deciding leg to deny Humphries a second successive weekly win.

"A difficult night all round, and I just fell short in the end," reflected Humphries on social media afterwards, addressing the injury concerns. "An unexpected finger injury didn't help either. Fair play to Luke Littler and I'll be back next week to do it all again in Dublin."

Looking for more information, one fan replied to Humphries statement asking how exactly the former world champion had managed to injure himself between matches. "What happened to the finger lol? Way you kept looking at it I thought you cut it or something," Humphries was asked, before giving an explanation. "Pulled my darts out the practice board and cut it on the wires. Then it just wouldn't stop bleeding haha."

Hunphries will now be hoping the injury isn't too long lasting as the darts come thick and fast for the elite at this time of year.
