Luke Littler has taken the win on Night Two of the 2025 Premier League Darts. The defending champion is now up and running in this new campaign, immediately launching himself up to 2nd place in the league table.
After fighting back from 5-1 down to beat Rob Cross 6-5 in the quarter-finals, Littler gained some revenge over Michael van Gerwen by dominantly dispatching the Dutchman 6-2 in the semis. Then, in the final, his old rival Luke Humphries was defeated in a thrilling deciding leg. “You just have to keep going. When I was 5-1 down against Rob I had to pull it out of the bag, and thankfully I did!" Littler reflected afterwards. “Coming into tonight I just wanted to win that first game and get some points on the board, and my confidence went through the roof after the comeback against Rob!”
During the entire night though, the action was plagued by whistles from the crowd, with the final sadly being no different. "Obviously, there were a few in particular that were doing it when Luke was throwing," recalls Littler. "Then when Kirk told them to be quiet, it got even worse. And then I missed doubles. Luke breaks at 5-4 and I am just like: Kirk, you have made it worse for me. I’m 5-4 down. But, no, I broke back and held my throw very strongly.”
Because of things only getting worse after referee Kirk Bevins attempted to address the whistling, Littler admits he sometimes thinks it's best just to ignore the crowd. “If it is the same as what it was when Kirk said it, then yeah, just leave it," he explains. "Obviously, they have got to step in at some point and say something, but that was pretty bad. But I got the win."
“It was a weird final. We both weren’t playing well. I was looking up at the screen and we both had a 90 average. It was a weird game. Obviously the crowd got involved. and Luke went 5-4 up. I done well to hit a 10-darter and 11-darter, that’s crucial," Littler concludes. “The Pro Tour was good match practice. I used the gold darts and came back here and used them."
