Gary Anderson has reached a seventh career PDC
World Darts Championship semi-final after ending the hopes of Luke Humphries with a 5-2 win.
Anderson averaged 96.3, hit eight 180's and four ton-plus checkouts as he continues his aim to become a three-time World Champion in two days time.
He will now return tomorrow for a clash with either Peter Wright or Callan Rydz who do battle tonight.
Humphries claimed a dream start to the tie sealing the opening set without reply averaging 102.5 in the process but Anderson despite only sitting at 25% on the doubles took the second set in a deciding leg to level up.
This set Anderson off on a run of form to claim the lead in the tie with a 104 checkout to break before sealing back-to-back sets to go 2-1 up.
Humphries wasn’t going to lie down though and hit back instantaneously by claiming the fourth set 3-1 but back came Anderson with a phenomenal 110 checkout to claim the fifth set and regain the upperhand.
A 148 checkout saw Anderson continue his brilliance and after Humphries missed a dart for the sixth set, ‘The Flying Scotsman’ took out double 11 to go clear.
It was now or never for Humphries with Anderson hitting back both times when he went up one leg including a 108 checkout to square it up and go one away at 2-2.
But after some poor finishing from Humphries, Anderson responded by sealing it with an 80 checkout second time around.
