Aspinall after defeating defending champion Price: “It’s a massive win”

Nathan Aspinall staved off a mini comeback to defeat Gerwyn Price, the back to back defending champion at the Grand Slam of Darts.

Aspinall is now through to the Quarter-Finals of the Grand Slam where his next assignment is against Dimitri Van den Bergh.

He spoke afterwards and called it a ‘massive win’ and one he was up for as he knew he had to score and finish well.

"It's a massive win for me," said Aspinall.

"We always have fantastic games and it was one of the most enjoyable games I've ever had.

"He brings the best out of me and I knew I had to score well tonight and finish well.

"I missed six darts to go 8-7 up and to not let that affect me, and to come back the way I did to win the last three legs I'm very happy and proud of myself.

"I've been struggling of late, not been playing very well, and I knew I had to bring my A-game tonight. I dug deep and played some good stuff."
