Michael van Gerwen has qualified for the Quarter-Finals at the
Grand Slam of Darts after a convincing 10-2 victory over Gary Anderson in a clash of two former world champions.
"It went well, not perfect. If you win 10-2 against someone like Gary Anderson you can of course not complain", said Van Gerwen to RTL 7. "Especially in the beginning it was a matter of using your chances. I threw a few high finishes when he was on a double. I gained a lot of confidence with that, especially when I was extending my lead. I knew I was going to win and at some point I felt invincible.''
Van Gerwen takes on Simon Whitlock in the Quarter-Finals of this event. Whitlock beat the Dutchman already twice this year on television. ''But when we look to all our games, I'm still ahead of him'', the world number one joked. ''Also I think the long format (best of 31 legs) is in my favor. I am really looking forward to it."
