Aspinall and Wright break World Record after brilliant clash in Barnsley

Nathan Aspinall claimed Players Championship 2 on Sunday but along the way also claimed a new record for highest combined match average.

This is on both the ProTour while DartConnect has been running due to the statistics not being available before and TV matches.

Aspinall was taking on Peter Wright in the Quarter-Finals and produced an astonishing display hitting a 117 average. The latter also played his part smashing in 113.7 despite being on the losing end in a 6-4 defeat.

This means the duo had a combined match average of 115.59 making it the highest of all time. The top three is made up of ProTour matches with number two being the old leading mark when Max Hopp defeated Ian White 6-2. They had a combined average of 115.24.

Then it was Rob Cross and Jan Dekker all the way back in 2018 during UK Open Qualifier 5 where the former claimed a 6-2 win with a 115.13 average.

In addition, we get the only one on the list from a TV game with Peter Wright once again figuring during his victory over Adrian Lewis in the 2017 Premier League with a combined average of 114.40.

Finally Wright's 6-0 win over Krzysztof Ratajski where the former hit the record broadcast average finalises the list with 113.05 being the combined average.
