Nathan Aspinall has continued his debut World Series run with victory over Rob Cross in the third Quarter-Final at the US Darts Masters.
Aspinall claimed an 8-5 win over 'Voltage' with a 100 average and has now reached the semi-finals in his last three TV events. He will now face either Daryl Gurney or Peter Wright.
The Stockport ace started their repeat of the UK Open final in clinical fashion gaining an immediate break of throw against Cross and followed that up with a 121 on the bull to break again and go 3-0 up.
Cross though pounced on a sudden drop of form in the next leg with seven missed darts at double from Aspinall and as a result he took out 82 to trail 3-1. He held his throw to go 3-2 behind but 'The Asp' went into the break finely poised at 4-2.
The former World Champion came back well and claimed successive legs to go 4-4 and he continued to be clinical where Aspinall wasn't going 5-4 up.
A brilliant ten dart leg though brought Aspinall back into it and following that, he went one away to go from potentially a comeback from Cross to the verge of a brilliant win. He finished it off as he continues to show the darting world why he belongs with the big names.
