Nathan Aspinall has got his debut Premier League campaign up and running with his first win over the first 'Challenger' and home hero, John Henderson.
Aspinall hit a brilliant 170 checkout en route as he defied the boos at the start of the game to defeat Henderson who was under par throughout the contest averaging mid 70's.
It was a nervy start for both players but Aspinall claimed the first leg and he went 2-1 up after Henderson missed the bullseye to break throw himself.
Both players weren't at their best by any means but Aspinall found double 10 to go 3-2 up and claim the initiative.
Henderson was averaging only 76 and Aspinall claimed a break of throw hitting double six to lead 4-2. They both traded 180s before Aspinall then hit double 12 to make his lead 5-2.
Henderson stayed in touch trailing 5-3 despite still averaging in the 70's. Aspinall though made sure of a point with a brilliant 170 checkout and claimed the victory from there with no more resistance coming from 'The Highlander'.
