Nathan Aspinall is in the final of the World Matchplay for the first time in his career. 'The Asp' defeated Joe Cullen 17-9 in the semifinals.
"I knew I could do it. I knew i could make the final and I know I can win this tournament. But belief is one thing, doing it is another," Aspinall opened. "I just wanted it a little bit more and I think that is why I got over the line."
"My family have been amazing, they've helped me so much and they don't even realise what they're doing," Aspinall continues, referencing the brilliant support he has had all week. "They keep me focused and make me realise why I do this. I'm just happy I'm making them proud."
Aspinall will take on Jonny Clayton in the final, but is also already dreaming of more. "If you are flat tomorrow you shouldn't be playing this game," he says. "I'm not happy with second best. I want to succeed I want Smithy's title, I want his number 1 spot."
