🎯 Until last night the most bullseye finishes on record by a player in a single Matchplay tournament was 6 by Mensur Suljovic in 2018. Jonny Clayton hit his 5th, 6th and 7th against Ryan Searle. He's only had 8 attempts at it! 🤯
Jonny Clayton stole the show Friday night at the World Matchplay by producing no fewer than six ton-plus checkouts in his quarter-final victory over Ryan Searle, breaking a record in the process.
Three legs Clayton hauled in via the bullseye, which means he has already recorded seven bullseye finishes throughout the 2023 World Matchplay. That is an improvement on the record held by Mensur Suljovic, who had reached six bullseye finishes during the 2018 edition.
What is remarkable about Clayton's record is that he needed only eight attempts to throw his seven arrows into the bullseye. On Saturday night, "The Ferret" can try to extend his record even further, when he meets Luke Humphries in the semi-finals of the World Matchplay. The other semifinal is between Nathan Aspinall and Joe Cullen.
