There will be a new name on the Premier League trophy and it will be a debutant with
Nathan Aspinall set to face Glen Durrant shortly at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
This is after Aspinall claimed a superb 10-7 win over Peter Wright with his statistics reading a 95 average, five 180's, a high checkout of 141 and a doubles percentage of 42%.
He claimed an early break against 'Snakebite' pinning double 10 after six missed darts from Wright. It was Aspinall's turn soon after to miss doubles and four in this case with Snakebite making it 1-1.
He moved ahead with a further break of throw in the form of a 12-darter to make it 3-1. He couldn't hold his throw once again though as Aspinall hit a 76 checkout to make it 3-2.
Wright went back ahead with a hold at 4-3 as they shared their throws. But seven perfect darts in a potentially pivotal part of the match saw the Stockport ace hit the front once more at 5-4 up.
He hit a 138 checkout from there to make it 6-4 and lead at the break. Wright came back with a ton plus of his own hitting a 126 checkout.
They both held throw but Aspinall smashed in the aforementioned 141 checkout to go to 8-6 up and he went one away from there claiming proceedings with a 13 darter on double 16 with Wright sitting on double 12.
