Nathan Aspinall has ended the first half of
Premier League Darts action top of the table leading for the first time after Night Nine.
Aspinall has been brilliant throughout and sits top after seeing off
Gary Anderson with
Dimitri van den Bergh falling to second after drawing to
James Wade and is behind on leg difference.
Now with
Rob Cross and
Glen Durrant eliminated, the race intensifies for the play-offs as well as the league win and bonus.
Currently,
Michael van Gerwen who famously last year didn't make the play-offs for the first time currently is in line in third place with 11 points after defeat to
Jonny Clayton saw him fall away slightly.
While James Wade and Jonny Clayton have emerged in fourth and fifth place after both having contrasting runs of form. The former had a poor first block but has shown his strength this time around while it has been the latter for 'The Ferret'.
But he arrested his bad run with victory over Mighty Mike and sits ahead of
Jose de Sousa and
Peter Wright on nine points. Gary Anderson has suffered back to back defeats and sits on eight points and will potentially need an imperious run or players above him to drop off and get into the play-offs.
But when the action resumes in early May and after the Super Series, any combination could make it to the end of season play-offs which could even see the return of fans.
