Aspinall on Noppert European Championship clash: “I need to perform at that level, if I do then I'll be hard to beat”

Nathan Aspinall continued his return to form with a 10-6 win over Damon Heta in which both players averaged over 100 at the European Championship.
Aspinall spoke post match and was ecstatic to make it through as well as now having an eye on his tie with Danny Noppert.
"I really enjoyed it and it's a fantastic win against a great opponent," said Aspinall. "I felt really good tonight.
"The 141 to stay in the match and the 104 finish showed bottle and what a fantastic player he is, but I had a job to do and I was really happy with how I performed.
"The practice is paying off and I felt so at home up there, I felt back like I felt two years ago. I was buzzing, the adrenaline was pumping and the crowd were fantastic.
"I've got Danny Noppert next and he's playing unreal darts at the moment. I need to perform at that level tomorrow, and if I do then I'll be hard to beat."

- It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). Taylor and MVG are two prime examples of professionals who are able to cope with the crowds mentally and not take it personally. This is not just an English crowd problem, FFS.MrYnyslas197116-11-2024
- Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I blame the PDC to a certain extent though doubt they really care as they win regardless of which player wins or loses.Mysstree16-11-2024

I even turned to my husband and said "Could you imagine this happening if Russ Bray was the referee tonight? At least there would have been a crowd admonishment- Ladies and Gentleman please."
