Aspinall on Wright’s Minehead comments after Smith win: “If they’re moaning about coming here, they shouldn’t play darts”

Nathan Aspinall moved into the second round at the Players Championship Finals after a quality display from ‘The Asp’ as he saw off Jeff Smith who recently won the CDC Continental Cup.

“Jeff’s a great player, he’s coming off a lot of confidence, he’s just qualified for the World’s. I knew I had to get him at the start, I did that today and I thought I played quite well there,” said Aspinall post match.

“So many games I give so many people head starts the last six months. I played well straight from the off there, I let him in a couple of times there but I came out a worthy winner there, it was nice to be back at Minehead.”

He also discussed comments made by Peter Wright about Minehead and his displeasure for a venue which Aspinall won the UK Open at.

“This is what darts is about, we want to play in front of the biggest fans, the biggest venue and if they’re moaning about coming here, they shouldn’t play darts.”
