Price on crowd support after Lowe scare: “It’s the first game ever that the crowd has won me the game”

Gerwyn Price saw off Jason Lowe in a 6-3 win and he will next face Martin Schindler after coming from 4-1 down to open up his Players Championship Finals campaign.

Price spoke afterwards and was pleased to get through and have the crowd on his side despite not playing to his best.

“It was difficult today, I don’t know what happened. In practice I was flying, I couldn’t miss. It was a little chilly up on that stage but that’s no excuse I just couldn’t find the treble first dart. I was all over the shop,” he said.

“I think it’s the first game ever that the crowd has won me the game. They put him off a little bit and started to boo him on doubles.”

“I’d bombed opportunities. I knew even if I kicked into gear, it didn’t matter if I was 5-1 down, I could still win the game. When I’m playing rubbish and still winning I seem to find my best game later on in tournaments, if I can scrape through like that to the Quarter-Finals, I’m happy.”
