Astonishing Australia dump out Belgium with 110 average in pairs decider at World Cup of Darts

Australia are the latest team into tonight's semi-finals of the World Cup of Darts after an incredible whitewash win in the pairs decider against Belgium to dump out one of the leading favorites for the title.

It all began with Dimitri van den Bergh facing Damon Heta in the first singles tie and it was very much advantage Belgium at this point as the captain led from the front with a 4-2 victory sealing it with an 89 checkout on the bull.

But World Cup experience followed as two former captains of their sides in Simon Whitlock and Kim Huybrechts collided in a superb tie.

Whitlock pinned 83 to go 2-1 up but Huybrechts sent it all the way with a 170 checkout before 'The Wizard' sealed it with a 56 checkout on his own throw in the decider with a 101.8 average and three 180's.

But in the pairs decider, it was anything but close as Australia blew Belgium away with a 110 average. Heta began proceedings with an early break in the form of a 77 checkout before Whitlock doubled their lead.

As they went one away, their average sat at 121 combined and despite that going down, Belgium did not claim a leg as Heta and Whitlock sail through to face the winner of the final Quarter-Final between England and Scotland.
