The winner of this World Series of Darts tournament will go home with a cheque for 20,000 pounds. The runner-up will receive 10,000 pounds. All 16 participants are guaranteed £1,250 in prize money anyway.
The prize money does not count toward the PDC Order of Merit, nor does it count toward the World Series of Darts Order of Merit. Instead, players can also earn points for the World Series of Darts rankings.
All participants in a World Series tournament are guaranteed one point for the World Series Order of Merit. This number increases to three points upon reaching the quarterfinals, and then to five points for a semifinal place. The losing finalist receives eight points and the winner receives 12 points.
The top eight players on the World Series Order of Merit are assured participation in the World Series Finals in Amsterdam at the end of the season. Next week there will be another World Series tournament in New Zealand.
The PDC first hosted a World Series tournament in Australia in 2013. Over the years, tournaments have been played in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane. Since 2022, the tournament has been played in Wollongong, where the Australian Darts Masters now also takes place. In 2022, the title in Wollongong went to Jonny Clayton and in 2023, Rob Cross took the title.
