Barry claims maiden PDC Development Tour title with victory over Order of Merit leader Meikle

Keane Barry has claimed PDC Development Tour Eight to put himself in the reckoning for a World Championship and Tour Card spot with two events to go.

It is a maiden Development Tour title for the Irishman and he has become the third Irish player to win a title on the secondary tour.

En route he saw off some of Development Tour's top names in Niels Zonneveld (5-1) and Berry van Peer (5-1) before then defeating Ryan Meikle, the current leader in the Development Tour in the final.

As a result currently he leads by over £2,000 ahead of Barry and Berry van Peer who is just behind in third place. Damian Mol, Ted Evetts and Kevin Doets followed with all three claiming event wins this weekend.

Barry is currently on a World Championship spot and Tour Card going into the final day with Meikle on the former due to him currently being a Tour Card holder for another year. While Van Peer holds the second Tour Card.
