Keane Barry will take on Jonny Clayton in Round Two after another game went all the way with a brilliant comeback from Royden Lam at the 2021/22 PDC World Darts Championship.
Barry was two sets up and was seemingly cruising but saw Lam come back to force a decider only for some poor darts from 'The Wolf' under pressure which came back to bite him as the Irishman moved through.
Barry claimed an opening break on double four after handing Lam a second opportunity to hold. A 180 and 80 checkout saw Barry hold and go towards the first set.
Lam got his first leg on the board with an 81 checkout to hold. But it was 'Dynamite' who sealed the opening set.
He opened up the second set with a hold followed by a 121 checkout to break and go one away from a two sets lead which he claimed on double 16 before taking it to go 2-0 up.
Lam took out 101 though in a decider to put Barry under pressure going into the final set as he got a set back.
He continued to stay with Barry with two holds to open up the fourth set. A 42 checkout saw 'The Wolf' break and make it 2-2. An 86 checkout saw Lam make it 2-2 in sets.
Barry fired back up again with a 56 checkout to break. He missed 112 on double 16 to consolidate and Lam returned to break back and take out double 20 for 1-1.
Lam missed the bull for a 64 checkout and Barry took out double four to throw the match.
The former missed 94 for a break to force a decider but Barry missed two for the match. Lam returned but went into single fifteen and single 20 to bust.
Barry missed more match darts and Lam missed three at double 10 before 'Dynamite' finally sealed it on double two.
