Chas Barstow missed out on a Tour Card at 2021 PDC Q-School by a matter of legs with Danny Baggish producing an incredible run to edge past him.
Speaking in the aftermath of Q-School to the Inside the WDF podcast, he discussed the new format and missing out.
“I think I preferred the way it was this time but it probably didn’t suit me as I would have won a card if it continued being the old way,” said Barstow to the
Inside the WDF podcast.
“I knew I only needed probably another two points so I was very confident. Being in the situation I was against Adrian Gray 5-3 up and I only needed to win that game really but it didn’t pan out.”
In terms of missing out, Barstow said he could see it coming: “It was quite painful. You can sort of watch it unfolding in front of you. I could see what was going to happen, I knew I was going to get pipped right at the end.”
But despite that, he has found his way onto the PDC Tour filling up the numbers at Super Series events and playing well.
“Obviously it’s difficult. You don’t get away with a lot. It’s a new thing for me, it’s playing some very good players but it’s good fun. I enjoyed it.”
For Barstow though, the aim continues to be a strong Challenge Tour year with the desire to avert Q-School.
“When we’re back to normal as soon as Challenge Tour starts, I’ll be straight back on that. Hopefully I have a couple of good runs on that and don’t go back to Q-School next year.”
