Glen Durrant has spoken of his enthusiasm to return to PDC competition as he gears up for a highly-anticipated Grand Slam opener against Peter Wright on Saturday.
The
BDO world champion qualified from a group featuring Gary Anderson in the 2016 Grand Slam before losing to Raymond van Barneveld.
"I can't wait to get back there," Durrant told Sky Sports.
"I got a lot of plaudits and it's nice to hear good things but at 5-5 against Barney I remember thinking 'come on, now's your chance', but he then suddenly was 8-5 up before I knew it."
He will represent his code in what has been billed the 'Group of Death', which features world number two Wright, youth sensation Corey Cadby and Alan Norris.
Durrant beat Norris 5-1 in last year's Grand Slam, and is not worried by the challenge facing him this time around.
"This year I know what to expect and the focus is high. I want to go there and do really well. I am so excited for the Grand Slam," Durrant said.
'Duzza' opted not to make the switch to the PDC after becoming BDO world champion in January, instead taking a break from major competitions. The Middlesbrough thrower is open to joining the PDC circuit, but is focused on upcoming challenges.
"I have never hidden the secret that I would love to play PDC but a lot of it will depend on how it goes this year at Lakeside," he said.
"I have enjoyed the year but I have been doing more exhibition work rather than competition play and probably not playing as well matchplay-wise as last year.
"But now the exhibition circuit is secondary and it's competition play all the way. This is the busiest time of the year and it's time to get the head down."
