Belgium are the first through to the semi-finals at the
World Cup of Darts after seeing off Canada in a pairs decider 4-2 to complete a 2-1 win to open up the Quarter-Finals in Salzburg.
To begin proceedings,
Kim Huybrechts produced a stunning display to ease past Jeff Smith to give Belgium the early point. He hit a 108.3 average with 4/5 on the doubles in one of his best displays for some time albeit in a shorter format.
This left Dimitri van de Bergh a task to see it out against the impressive CDC standout Matt Campbell who has shown brilliance at times this weekend. He did so once more to make it 1-1 for Canada against the World Matchplay champion.
He produced a superb display of finishing with 4/5 on the doubles and a 97.5 average including a 160 and 120 checkout. To pairs it went.
It was the Canada duo who took a 2-1 advantage but it was four breaks in four legs with Belgium making it 2-2 and Van den Bergh handling the pressure.
Campbell fluffed his lines missing double nine then wasn't able to hit double four from the requisite set up and Belgium held their throw to make it 3-2.
Belgium were first down to a finish and Van den Bergh left double eight which was pinned by Huybrechts to claim the win.
