Berry van Peer is all the way back: Grand Slam spot, qualified for World Darts Championship and PDC Tour Card for 2 years

Berry van Peer has definitely secured first place on the PDC Challenge Tour Order of Merit. With this, 'Bionic' has re-entered the PDC Pro Tour, where the best players in the world compete.

Van Peer previously had a PDC Tour Card in 2016-2017 and 2021-2022, but each time he failed to secure a spot in the top-64 of the world rankings. As a result, the dart player from Sprundel lost his Tour Card again.

At this year's Q-School, Van Peer nearly grabbed a Tour Card, giving him access to the Challenge Tour. This circuit was set up by the PDC for players who did not win a Tour Card at the Q-School. There is still nice money to be earned for the best players on this tour. There are 24 tournaments organized and the winner of each tournament receives 2,500 pounds. Van Peer ended up winning four of these tournaments.

Through the Challenge Tour Order of Merit, there are still several prizes to be distributed and thus all of them fall into the hands of the 27-year-old Dutchman. First of all, Van Peer may compete at the Grand Slam of Darts in November. That is the tournament where much of the darts world became acquainted with him in 2017. At the time, Van Peer was struggling with a severe form of dartitis, and it was easy to see during his matches. Despite all the drama that took place on stage, Van Peer managed to qualify for the knockout stage of the Grand Slam of Darts. After that, "Bionic" disappeared from the picture somewhat for some time, until he was awarded another Tour Card in 2021.

After a disappointing first year in 2021, Van Peer focused somewhat in 2022, but it was insufficient to retain his Tour Card. In 2023, Van Peer was also allowed to compete on the WDF circuit, where he managed to win the Dutch Open in Assen in late January.

As a result, Van Peer qualified for Lakeside, but he will not be in action there. Because in addition to an invitation to the Grand Slam of Darts, Van Peer also gets to compete in the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace. To top it off, Van Peer will also receive a PDC Tour Card for two seasons, giving him a third chance to prove himself on the Pro Tour.
