Big prize money increase for UK Open and PDC European Tour confirmed

The PDC announced back in 2022 that it was increasing the prize money for the UK Open and European Tour in 2023. They have now confirmed how much prize money has been added.

The prize money for the UK Open, one of the PDC majors, goes from £450,000 to £600,000. Last year, players only received prize money at this tournament from reaching the third round. That is now in the second round. Players who reach the last 128 will get £1,000 in prize money. This eventually rises to £110,000 for the winner.

On the European Tour, there is also a substantial increase in prize money. £175,000 will now be distributed per tournament, an increase of £35,000. The 32 qualifiers are assured of £1250 prize money.

The top 16 seeded players enter the tournament from the second round. As a result, they will receive at least £2,500 in their bank account. However, seeded players must win their first match for the prize money to count towards the rankings as well. For reaching the third round, they are rewarded with £4,000. The eventual winner of a European Tour tournament will receive a cheque of £30,000.
