The draw for the World Darts Championship will not be made until later Monday, but it is already known where the top-32 seeded players in the tournament schedule will end up. They will enter the tournament from the second round.
Michael Smith leads the seeds at the World Darts Championship. Since 'Bullyboy' captured the world title early this year, Smith has been first in the world rankings. He has the likes of Ross Smith, Chris Dobey, Rob Cross and Jonny Clayton in his section of the draw.
In terms of names, the second quarter is the most interesting. In the third round, Peter Wright and Raymond van Barneveld could face each other. The same is also true for Dirk van Duijvenbode and Gary Anderson. In addition, eleven-time major winner James Wade and former world champion Gerwyn Price are also in this quarter.
Three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen is the highest ranked player in the third section. Van Gerwen could possibly meet Kim Huybrechts in the third round. Furthermore, Dimitri van den Bergh and Danny Noppert are also in this section of the tournament schedule.
Luke Humphries, the top favorite for the world title after three major titles in the autumn, is also in the bottom half of the schedule. Humphries faces competition in his quarter from the likes of Joe Cullen, Ryan Searle, Nathan Aspinall and Dave Chisnall.
