Ritchie Edhouse and
Brendan Dolan are both through their opening rounds at the
International Darts Open after seeing off Jitse van der Wal in the case of the former who stood no chance against 'Madhouse' in Riesa.
Van der Wal missed one chance in the third leg to break Edhouse, then the Dutchman himself ran into a break deficit in the fourth leg. A 48 finish then gave Edhouse a 4-1 lead.
The Englishman then played an excellent sixth leg and managed to make it 5-1 with an 11-darter. This was followed by a 12-darter from Edhouse to finish the job. Edhouse will face former world champion Michael Smith in the second round on Saturday.
Brendan Dolan and Kai Gotthardt then provided spectacle in the second game. Gotthardt hit an average of 102.22, but that was not enough to knock off "The History Maker. Dolan in turn threw an average of 103.85.
The Northern Irishman opened with a 102 finish in the first leg and then took a 2-0 lead with a 14-darter. A 90 finish and a 13-darter then gave Dolan a 4-0 lead. In the end, it was 6-2 for Dolan, who is paired with defending champion Gerwyn Price in the second round.
