Brilliant Bunting whitewashes Rydz, Meikle edges past Clemens as first round complete at Hungarian Darts Trophy

The first round is complete at the Hungarian Darts Trophy with Stephen Bunting and Ryan Meikle through to Saturday's action in Budapest to conclude the evening session.

Only seven matches due to Raymond van Barneveld receiving a bye, Bunting wasted no time in moving through and starting the final match after whitewashing Callan Rydz in a superb display from 'The Bullet'.

The ruthless display saw Bunting average 103.6 with 6/11 on the doubles as Rydz only had two darts at double in the entire match with Bunting providing a statement in Budapest. While Meikle has provided one for his European Championship hopes as he edged past Gabriel Clemens 6-4.

A hard fought battle between the pair, Meikle battled back from 2-0 and 3-1 down to hold and lead at 4-3 before producing a break and an 11-darter when it mattered most to seal it 6-4 with a 47 checkout after Clemens had missed a dart at the bull from 121 to prolong it.
