The second round line-up is nearly complete at the
Hungarian Darts Trophy with only two games left in Budapest as
Simon Whitlock,
William O'Connor and
Chris Dobey have moved through.
Whitlock faced Host Nation Qualifier, Janos Vegso and up until the conclusion, he looked like he was going to break his personal average record on the
European Tour sitting at around 110 and was going to claim a whitewash.
This after speeding into a 5-0 lead including 122 and 147 back to back for 12-darters to go 3-0 up initially but missing five match darts, it allowed Vegso a route back in gaining two consolation legs but in the end 'The Wizard' moved through with a 95.2 average, six 180's to set up another tie with Michael van Gerwen.
While Dobey faced World Youth Champion, Ted Evetts and prevailed in an impressive win 6-3. This featured a 95 average and 55% on the doubles for 'Hollywood' and he was joined by O'Connor who will now face Dimitri van den Bergh. It was a routine 6-2 win over Pal Szekely for 'The Magpie' as no shocks have occurred so far.
