Joe Cullen might only have made two appearances on the Ally Pally stage at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship, but 'The Rockstar's drama-packed campaign has ensured the Englishman is one of the stories of the tournament.

After impressively dismantling the much-fancied Wessel Nijman in his opening match, Cullen made headlines by storming out of his post-match press conference, citing a lack of respect given to him from the media. "I've been shown no respect, so I won't show any respect to any of you guys tonight. I'm going to go home," he said at the time, before promptly standing up and doing just as he claimed.

Although Cullen went home for good after losing to Gerwyn Price in the third round, an epic comeback from 3-0 down and a stunning 170 checkout to force a sudden death leg ensured 'The Rockstar' could leave the Alexandra Palace with his head held high, despite the heartbreak of another narrow defeat on the biggest stage of them all.

"Well that was an eventful way to end 2024! The first picture sums up how I feel after the loss Friday night….I worked so hard on & off the board to get myself in the best possible shape going into the worlds….. Gutted to lose another classic like that but if anything , after the year I’ve had, it’s restored my belief that I know where I belong," reflects Cullen in a post on his official Instagram account. "Plenty of hard work ahead to get back to where I want and know I should be!! I’d fallen out of love a bit with the game this year but the fire was back for the Worlds so it’s my job to keep it there."

"Thanks for all my fans for the support this year," Cullen adds before also sparing a thought for the haters, who had come out in force online in the immediate aftermath of his press conference incident earlier in the tournament. "Also thanks to all the keyboard 🔔’s , your jealousy and ‘abuse’ is brilliant motivation, so keep it coming Nobheads."
