Brilliant Van Barneveld whitewashes Gilding as awesome Aspinall downs De Sousa in Sindelfingen

The big names come into proceedings on Saturday night and for Nathan Aspinall and Raymond van Barneveld, they have stormed into the Last 16 at the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen.

Van Barneveld saw off Liam Maendl-Lawrance last night in a supremely professional display and again he was top class against another methodical player in UK Open champion, Andrew Gilding.

It was a 6-0 thrashing for the doyen of Dutch darts who averaged 95 and hit three 180's in sealing the win. It is a first third round appearance in a European Tour since 2019 for 'Barney' who so far this season when he has played has faced tough draws. Are all the cards finally aligning for the Dutch legend?

Could they also be aligning for Nathan Aspinall who showed his class with a 6-3 win over Jose de Sousa.

Aspinall stormed through averaging over 101 in the process with four 180's with his first nine average sat at 124.

After missing out on Premier League finals night, it is back to business for Aspinall ahead of New York next week and he will aim to make a statement. Luke Humphries v Chris Dobey follows.
