Nathan Aspinall made a successful debut at the World Grand Prix on Monday evening. The UK Open champion beat Vincent van der Voort in straight sets.

Aspinall survived six missed doubles from Van der Voort in the first leg, before he took a 2-0 lead with a 76 checkout. He whitewashed The Dutch Destroyer in the third leg as the Dutchman missed nine opening doubles, while The Asp produced a superb 12-dart leg to claim the first set.

The World Championship semi-finalist quickly took a 2-0 lead in the second round. Van der Voort put himself on the scoreboard for the first time as he hit double 2 in the third leg, before Aspinall finished the match in style with a 14-darter.

Stephen Bunting booked a convincing 2-0 victory over Jonny Clayton. The Welshman struggled with his doubles, while Bunting hit six of his ten darts on the doubles and also opened the legs with his first turn six times.
