Luke Littler captured his third weekly title of the 2025 Premier League Darts last week in Cardiff. The Nuke did so by defeating Michael van Gerwen 6-4 in the final. In that final he also threw a nine darter, in the process giving a special moment for PDC referees Huw Ware.
Yes refereeing that nine-darter in his nation's capital was proud Welshman Huw Ware. Afterwards, he wrote on X: "Not that this is about me, but calling a nine-darter in my home city is right up there with my career highlights. Well done @LukeTheNuke180."
Littler's nine-darter not only contributed to his victory, but also went into the record books as the first televised nine-darter to finish on double 15. When asked about that particular finish, Littler said, "Yeah, I've been playing very well. I must admit I've not picked my darts up since last Thursday - I just had a week off to chill. But to come here and win, six points clear as you've just seen, so now I'm comfortable."
Littler took a week's rest after his weekend title in Cardiff and was not in action at the European Darts Trophy in Göttingen last weekend. Tonight, he takes on Stephen Bunting in the quarterfinals during the eighth day of play at the Premier League Darts in Newcastle.
About the playoffs, Littler said, "I just want to get to the O2 as quick as possible. I have put myself in a really good position and I do want to finish No. 1. I didn't want No. 1 last year, but this year I want to try and stay there. I was happy with my doubles tonight, but there is plenty more to come."
